DETROIT – Bedrock announced on Monday that it is laying off about 60 employees in midst of a restructuring. In a statement from the company, the employee changes are a result of “a restructuring that will position the company for continued growth and improved service in 2021 and well beyond.”A full statement from Bedrock reads:“Today, Bedrock announced a restructuring that will position the company for continued growth and improved service in 2021 and well beyond. As a result, approximately 60 positions have been affected by these changes. We are working diligently to place virtually all impacted team members into new roles within the Rock Family of Companies. To date, several team members have already accepted new positions with sister companies and we anticipate the majority finding new roles in the coming weeks.

DETROIT Detroits Greektown Casino-Hotel is laying off 43 workers due to revenue loss from the coronavirus pandemic. These layoffs at Greektown Casino-Hotel are the unfortunate result of COVID-19 related business circumstances that were sudden, dramatic and beyond our control, said the company in a statement announcing the layoffs. The 43 union employees will be laid off beginning Sept. 28 or the 14 day period commencing on that date. The layoffs come as Michigan casinos along with other businesses were closed down for months because of the pandemic. The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan has risen to 106,215 as of Saturday morning, including 6,534 deaths, state officials report.

They were forced to shut and lay off staff, shutter staff that used to be working. Laquita Parker, 46, is a STEP client who has been able to keep working during the pandemic. I like the work that I do at StoneCrest.There are four other STEP clients working as dietary aides at StoneCrest. Our STEP people really were the backbone for us and kept us in the game.Peter Yezback, another STEP client, lost his job when the pandemic hit.
