How Madison Heights is benefiting from dispensary agreements, community investments
Madison Heights residents are discussing the proliferation of marijuana dispensaries in the city. The city manager, Melissa Marsh, explained that dispensaries must contribute to the community by investing in nonprofits and paying into the Madison Heights Community Foundation, with each dispensary contributing $25,000 annually or 1% of their profits. This initiative has revitalized dilapidated properties and increased taxable value, supporting the community's development. In Michigan, dispensaries have significantly impacted the economy, with $3.2 billion in sales last year.
