Madison Heights launches downtown revitalization project
The City of Madison Heights is embarking on a downtown revitalization project to transform the 11 Mile Road corridor into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly area. With a $313,000 grant from the Main Street Oakland County Placemaking Program, the project includes widening sidewalks, adding parking spaces, and converting the road to a three-lane corridor to improve accessibility and safety. Mayor Roslyn Grafstein highlights the initiative's goal of making the area a destination, addressing safety concerns near Madison High School, and attracting new business interest. Construction is expected to conclude by summer 2025, aiming to enhance the walkability and vibrancy of Madison Heights' downtown district.
