Army Corps of Engineers studying flooding solutions in Canton Township
Residents of Canton Township, particularly those in Grandview Estates, are facing severe flooding issues, prompting the Army Corps of Engineers to conduct a study under the Planning Assistance to States program. Joseph Kubinski, a resident, has documented significant flooding events, highlighting the topographical challenges causing water to inundate neighborhoods. Katherine Labuhn from the Army Corps and David Norwood, the township's Director of Public Services, are working on solutions, including infrastructure improvements and collaboration with homeowners’ associations to ensure stormwater ponds function properly. Concern remains over a proposed wastewater treatment plant in Salem Township, which could exacerbate the flooding situation.
