How economic uncertainty is impacting Michigan's job market
Federal layoffs, new tariffs, and ongoing trade wars contribute to significant economic uncertainty across the country. A closer look at Michigan reveals that this tension is particularly pronounced in the state. In March, Michigan recorded the second-highest unemployment rate among all 50 states. The rate increased from 5.4 percent in February to 5.5 percent in March. Only Nevada had a higher rate at 5.8 percent.
