Oakland County judge mistreated employees, acted beyond her authority, complaint alleges

The Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission has filed a complaint against Oakland County Judge Kirsten Nielsen Hartig, alleging misconduct including failure to submit a psychological report, making false statements, employee mistreatment, and improperly dismissing cases. The complaint details instances such as Hartig's refusal to provide a psychological evaluation report, insisting on hiring a friend, berating employees, and exceeding her authority by directing a magistrate and wrongly dismissing cases. The commission claims these actions created a climate of fear, obstructing court functions. Judge Hartig, who has served since 2011, disputes the allegations and is prepared to address them as part of the judicial process.
