FDA issues egg recall amid Salmonella outbreak

A salmonella outbreak linked to eggs has sickened at least 79 people across seven states in the West and Midwest, with 21 hospitalizations. The August Egg Company recalled 1.7 million brown organic and brown cage-free eggs distributed from February to May in states including Arizona, California, and Illinois. Consumers are advised to discard or return the eggs and disinfect any surfaces they contacted. Symptoms include diarrhea and fever, with severe cases requiring hospitalization, particularly affecting vulnerable groups like young children and older adults.
