Essential maintenance tips for air conditioning during cottonwood season

In southeast Michigan, cottonwood trees are currently shedding seeds, affecting air conditioning units by reducing their efficiency if the fluff is not removed. Adam Helfman from Hire It Done advises weekly cleanings during May to June using a low-pressure garden hose or a soft brush to prevent the units from working harder and decreasing their lifespan. Installing a mesh or filter around the unit and maintaining a debris-free area can also help prevent buildup. For those not comfortable with cleaning, hiring a technician for $150 to $175 is recommended.
