Detroit teacher, coach accused of grooming student with cognitive delays

A Detroit teacher and track coach, Nathan Tedford, has been charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly grooming an 18-year-old student with cognitive delays by posing as a chiropractor. Prosecutors claim Tedford lured the student to his home under the pretense of providing chiropractic treatment, during which he admitted to inappropriately touching the student. Tedford, employed at East English Village Preparatory Academy, is on unpaid leave as the investigation continues, and he is set to return to court on June 18, 2025. Detroit police urge parents to discuss any concerns with their children, though no other victims have been identified.
