Karen Read found not guilty in murder case

Karen Read was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the 2022 death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O'Keefe, but was found guilty of drunken driving. The defense argued that Read was framed, while prosecutors claimed she hit O'Keefe with her SUV. The case, which resulted in a mistrial nearly a year earlier, attracted significant public attention and debate over justice and privilege. Despite her acquittal on serious charges, Read will face a year of probation for the lesser offense.
