Former officer Darnell Blackburn on church security protocols after shooting

A 31-year-old man from Romulus opened fire outside CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne, wearing a tactical vest and armed with a long gun and a handgun. After driving recklessly, he began shooting at the church until a parishioner struck him with a car, which led to the gunman firing at the vehicle. Two armed security guards then intervened, shooting and killing the gunman, who was believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis; one guard was injured but is expected to recover. Lead Pastor Bobby Kelly credited the security team's preparedness and faith for averting a larger tragedy, while former police officer Darnell Blackburn highlighted the standard procedure for church security in such incidents.
