Macomb County man reconvicted of murdering his boss
Jerry Motley, a Macomb County man, has been reconvicted of first-degree premeditated murder for the 2018 killing of his boss, Thomas Badke, at Reliable Fence in Clinton Township. Motley, who brought a gun to work and shot a coworker before killing Badke, was initially convicted in 2019 and sentenced to life in prison. His conviction was overturned due to ineffective trial counsel, but after a nearly three-week retrial, a jury rejected his insanity defense and found him guilty once more. Motley is scheduled to be sentenced again on August 7.
