Man accused of killing well-known Detroit doctor bound over to stand trial

The man accused of murdering a well-known Detroit doctor has been bound over to stand trial on all charges. Following a four-day preliminary examination, a judge determined that there was enough evidence to bind over Desmond Burks on all counts in connection with 53-year-old Dr. Devon Hoover’s death. Burks is accused of killing Hoover, who was found dead at his home in the Boston-Edison Historic District on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Hoover worked as a neurosurgeon at Ascension Hospital in Detroit at the time of his death.
