Romulus teen charged in Detroit shooting before Ford Fireworks
Alphonso Cooper Jr., a 19-year-old from Romulus, has been charged with attempted murder and several other felonies following a shooting near the Ford Fireworks in Downtown Detroit on June 23. The incident, which occurred outside the metal detector-secured area, involved a dispute over $200 with a 17-year-old boy, who was shot in the legs, while a 22-year-old bystander was also injured. Both victims are expected to survive. Cooper was apprehended and arraigned, with his bond set at $500,000, and is subject to house arrest with a GPS tether if released.
