Pedals and progress: Lexus Velodrome hosts ‘Summer Cycling Camp’ for first-time riders in Detroit

The "Learn to Ride a Bike Summer Cycling Camp" at Detroit's Lexus Velodrome, organized by the Detroit Fitness Foundation, is in its eighth year, offering children in Metro Detroit the chance to learn biking skills. Led by Coach Luke Cavender, the camp addresses barriers such as the lack of safe sidewalks and bike access, enabling kids to experience the freedom of cycling. Despite initial challenges, campers like Owen Ho and Jace Dawson quickly progress, with Jace already riding confidently without training wheels. The camp's success underscores its impact, providing an enriching summer activity that promotes fitness and independence.
