Deadly crash causes traffic mess on I-96, with drivers turning around on same side of highway

A July 23, 2025, deadly crash on I-96 left drivers in a miles-long backup in Oakland and Livingston counties. Many had to turn around on the same side of the freeway and drive backwards to escape the jam.
