Macomb County prosecutor clears Shelby Township officer in fatal shooting

Shelby Township police released body cam footage of a fatal traffic stop on June 3, where officers shot 41-year-old Thomas Antonio Jackson after he fled a vehicle stop. Despite multiple orders to stop and the use of a Taser, Jackson continued running and allegedly produced a firearm, prompting an officer to fire eight shots, hitting him five times. Jackson was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office ruled the use of force justified, while Jackson's family, disputing the decision, has hired legal representation to investigate the case from a civil perspective.
