Recipient highlights importance of donating blood

The supply of blood often hits critical levels during the height of summer, but people can help fill that void with blood drives in Metro Detroit. Dr. Frank McGeorge talked to a local mom who lost double her body's blood volume, which had to be replaced through transfusions, to highlight the importance of donating blood. Blood drives will be held from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, at Gardner White stores in Auburn Hills, Canton, Howell, Shelby Township, Warren and Waterford.
