Go 4 It: Metro Detroiters step up to support students at Southgate school supply giveaway

Getting school supplies and backpacks to kids who need them most. That was the goal on Thursday (Aug. 14) as we team up with the Salvation Army Downriver core to "Go 4 it" in Southgate! No surprise, Metro Detroiters have come through once again. The event just wrapped up at the Walmart on Dix Toledo Road. Teachers make such a difference in students' lives, and we want to hear about your favorite. One lucky educator will receive a $900 Meijer gift card to support their classroom this year. You’ve got until next Wednesday to send us your nominations. We’ll announce the winner on TV by the end of August.
