Wayne State faces scrutiny over euthanasia claims
State officials are contemplating an investigation into Wayne State University following reports that cats and dogs used in experiments were euthanized without an adoption opportunity. Advocacy groups criticize the university's heart health research methods as outdated, alleging they have led to numerous animal deaths since 1991. Ryan Merkley, an advocate, highlighted the invasive procedures and lack of proper care for the animals, claiming the university violated Queenie's Law, which mandates the adoption of rehomable lab animals. Wayne State has yet to comment on the allegations.
