Trump, Putin summit fails to advance Ukraine peace talks
Hopes for peace in Ukraine are diminishing following a summit in Alaska between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which yielded little progress. Despite Trump's efforts to arrange a meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed no such meeting is planned. Zelenskyy remains willing to meet Putin, accusing him of stalling, as the conflict continues with Russian advances and Ukrainian counterattacks. Trump is contemplating increasing pressure on Russia or allowing the conflict to persist, with a decision expected in two weeks.
