Full hearing: Detroit mom sentenced after 4-year-old son dies from fentanyl

Chavon Caprice Boone, 42, of Detroit, was sentenced to 22-40 years in prison on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, after her 4-year-old son died from fentanyl on April 10, 2022. Boone later called 911 on May 19, 2023, and turned herself in for her son’s murder. Officials said the mother gave her son drugs while they were alone in the child’s bedroom, which caused him to go into cardiac arrest, according to police.
