Michigan’s I-696 project ongoing with major bridge work, completion expected 2027

Six months into the I-696 construction project in Michigan, 75% of the work on the eastbound side is complete. The project, led by MDOT, involves extensive work on an eight-mile stretch from I-75 to the Lodge, affecting 100,000 drivers daily due to detours. The Church Street plaza bridge is the next major focus, with 105 concrete beams arriving after Labor Day. The $275 million project aims for completion by fall 2027, with the reopening of westbound lanes and key exit ramps in the coming months.
