Experts are issuing a renewed warning to parents of student athletes about the potential risk of hazing as they claim acts are becoming violent and more physical. Hazing is an activity that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers an individual seeking to join a group, according to advocacy group Stop Hazing. The practice often extends from high school through college. In one instance, last spring, 11 high school lacrosse players in Syracuse, New York, faced criminal charges after they allegedly staged a kidnapping of five younger players.
