Sterling Heights officers to stand trial for chaotic K-9 arrest
Two Sterling Heights police officers, James Sribniak and Jack Currie, are set to stand trial for their involvement in a chaotic February 2024 arrest. The incident occurred after Gary Young allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and her daughter, leading to a high-speed chase that ended in a crash. Bodycam footage shows officers using force, including punches and deploying a K-9, even as Young reportedly was tased and on the ground. Charged with misconduct and felonious assault in October 2024, the officers face trial for assault with intent to do great bodily harm, following a judge's ruling that sufficient evidence exists.
