Dearborn flood infrastructure upgrades aim to protect thousands of homes
Dearborn City Council President Mike Sweeney and Mayor Abdullah Hammoud addressed the city's flooding challenges and mitigation efforts. Following a devastating flood in June 2021, Dearborn invested over $25 million in stormwater management, conducted a comprehensive study on infrastructure needs, and implemented both short-term and long-term projects to increase water capacity and prevent future flooding. Initiatives include removing logjams, installing flood monitoring systems, creating biosolids, and constructing new stormwater lines.
