Oakland County man charged after wife found dead during welfare check

Police in Bloomfield Township discovered the body of 57-year-old Ariane C Grunewald Bluem, severely decomposed, during a welfare check at a home on Hedgewood Drive. Her husband, Dirk Grunewald, was found upstairs, surrounded by knives and initially uncooperative, leading to his placement into protective custody for health evaluations. An autopsy was performed, but the cause of Ariane's death remains undetermined. Dirk Grunewald has been charged with failing to report and concealing a death, and is being held on a $250,000 cash bond as investigations continue.
