8th witness testifies in trial of men accused of posing as DTE workers, part 2
On the second day of testimonies, Detective David Pachmayer was cross-examined by defense attorneys regarding his investigation into a burning vehicle linked to the crime, identified through its VIN as having a stolen license plate. Video evidence from Home Depot showed Hernandez and Zauzo purchasing items matching those used to bind the victims, and Hernandez’s Jeep was spotted at a Lowe’s on the morning of the murder. During cross-examination, Pachmayer mentioned Brian Broad’s identification of Zauzo from a Ring video and inconsistencies in Broad’s statement. The defense noted the lack of clarity on who was driving the vehicles when spotted and the absence of visible license plates, but Pachmayer confirmed the vehicles' identification through custom work.
