Medical examiner testifies on autopsy in case of men accused of posing as DTE workers

The medical examiner, Dr. Bryan, concluded that Murray's cause of death was asphyxiation due to neck compression, with blunt-force trauma to the head and neck contributing factors. Significant injuries included multiple fractures to the hyoid bone and mandible. The sustained neck compression could have lasted up to ten minutes, and while a lighter person could apply the necessary pressure, the specific assailant and sequence of injuries could not be determined from the autopsy. Despite the victim's preexisting cardiac conditions, a heart attack was ruled out as the cause of death.
