An 18-year-old is in critical condition after being shot by police on Detroit’s east side late Tuesday night. The shooting happened on Oct. 21 just before 10 p.m. on E 7 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue. “I can tell you that [police] feared for their life, he had been combative, and he produced a handgun,” said Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison. Bettison said the Detroit police Gang Intelligence Unit pulled over a Chevy Malibu for an obscured license plate.
