Oxford sisters lead ‘Little Friendsgiving’ food drive to feed hundreds across Metro Detroit

Hazel and Alice Nicosia, young sisters from Oxford, have been leading a community effort called "Little Friendsgiving" to aid families in need across Metro Detroit. Initiated by Hazel's desire to help the homeless at age four, the food drive has grown significantly with the support of their mother and the nonprofit Lighthouse. This year, they aim to collect over three tons of food, having gathered more than ten tons since inception, with contributions from neighborhood canvassing, fundraisers, and a network of volunteers. Hazel's efforts were recognized by the State of Michigan Governor’s Office, and a semi-truck from Lighthouse will collect this year's donations on November 1.
