Credit card ‘ghost tapping’: New way thieves are trying to steal your data

Experts are warning about "ghost tapping," a new method thieves use to steal credit card information from tap-to-pay systems by exploiting Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Devices like Flipper Zero can read card data without contact, posing threats in crowded spaces where thieves can discreetly capture information. To protect against this, the Better Business Bureau advises avoiding tap payments, using RFID-blocking wallets, and monitoring financial statements for suspicious activity. Despite some protective measures, many cards remain vulnerable, highlighting the need for increased awareness and preventive actions as such scams become more prevalent.
