How Detroit is working to boost food assistance

Some families relying on SNAP benefits can expect to start getting their benefits in two days, but it won't be a full payment.  People who normally get benefits on the 3rd, 5th, or 7th of the month will see some money on Saturday. Everyone else is expected to get their partial payments on their regular date. The payment schedule comes after a judge ordered the Trump administration to use contingency funds to keep the program going. Several pantries are stepping up to help families who haven't received SNAP benefits this month.
