Detroit neighbors transform vacant lots into urban bee farms, green spaces

In Detroit, the nonprofit Detroit Hives, led by Timothy and Nicole Lindsey Jackson, is transforming vacant lots into urban bee farms and community green spaces to benefit both people and pollinators. Their latest project, in partnership with EarthDay.org, aims to create the East Warren Community Arboretum and Botanical Garden, featuring Michigan native trees and seasonal perennials. Volunteers are encouraged to assist in the transformation efforts, which include cleaning and planting activities at 9336 East Warren Avenue on November 15th.
