MDOT restarts I-375 project, cutting costs and prioritizing community concerns

MDOT has resumed the I-375 project in Detroit, initially paused due to community concerns. The revised plan will shorten the boulevard and divide the project into three phases to allow for more community input on design and land use. The project aims to transform the 1.1-mile connector into a street-level boulevard, reconnecting Lafayette Park with downtown and reducing the excess property to about nine acres. The cost has decreased from an estimated $520 million to between $120 million and $140 million, focusing on community collaboration and revitalization.
