How to avoid scams and fraud this holiday season

The season of giving is almost here, and scammers can definitely take advantage of the generosity surrounding this time of year. The AARP's new Holiday and Shopping and Scams Report found that nearly nine in ten adults have experienced at least one scam, more than half received one of those fake toll payment texts, four in ten were targeted through social media ads, about a third received fraudulent charity donation requests, and three in ten have had a package stolen outside their home.  Kathy Stokes, the Director of Fraud Prevention programs with the AARP's Fraud Watch network, joined Local 4 Live with ways to make sure you aren't taken advantage of this time of year.
