Meet David Cowan, the man behind the Detroit Tree Lighting in Campus Martius

David Cowan, as the chief public spaces officer of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, leads the efforts to create the annual tree lighting event at Campus Martius. Under his leadership, the city is transformed into a festive display with over one million lights, highlighted by a Norway spruce adorned with 125,000 lights and a nine-foot star. The event, which involves hundreds of workers throughout the year, attracts approximately 115,000 attendees to downtown Detroit.
