Oakland County parents accused of starving sons, only feeding them ‘sporadic meals of rice’

A Pontiac couple, Auturo Bazan-Perez and Dulce Crystal Bazan Castillo, along with their adult son Carlos Bazan-Hernandez, have been charged with first-degree child abuse and torture for allegedly starving and mistreating their two young sons. The investigation began when a 9-year-old boy was hospitalized for cardiac arrest due to malnutrition, leading authorities to discover that his 11-year-old brother was also severely malnourished. Both boys, who had been unenrolled from school and confined to their bedroom with minimal food, are recovering. Meanwhile, two other younger children in the household appeared healthy and were removed by Child Protective Services. The parents are scheduled for a court appearance on December 4.
